Did You Know Your Follicle Count Doesn’t Stay the Same Throughout Your Cycle? – Fertility Plus

“Do you know timing matters?
Did you know your follicle count doesn’t stay the same throughout your cycle? In the late luteal phase, while progesterone is high, FSH and LH are low, creating a quiet environment in the ovaries. Think of it like a classroom before the teacher walks in—everyone’s present, but no one’s working just yet!
As progesterone drops and FSH rises, that’s when follicles wake up and start growing. This is crucial for fertility timing! If stimulation begins in the late luteal phase, follicles may be more synchronized but also more suppressed, often requiring a higher dose to get things moving.
This is why timing matters in fertility treatment. If stimulation is started in the late luteal phase, the follicles may be more synchronised, but the ovary is also more suppressed. So in many cases, a higher dose is needed to get things moving.
So yes, follicle counts change. But more importantly, the state of the ovary changes. It moves from a quiet phase to a recruitment phase and then to selection. Fertility is not static. It is a moving system, and timing changes everything.
Remember, fertility is not static; it’s a dynamic system where timing truly changes everything!.”
