Finding the Right Letrozole Dose in PCOS Treatment – Fertility Plus
Fertility Plus shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What is the dose of letrozole for PCOS
‘More medication doesn’t mean better results.’
This is something many patients don’t expect when they start fertility treatment.
Letrozole is one of the most commonly used medications to help ovulation. But what matters isn’t just using it – it’s using the right dose.
- At 2.5 mg, it gently stimulates the ovary
- At 5 mg, we often see the best balance – stronger follicles, better outcomes
- At 7.5 mg, results plateau – not much added benefit
- Above that? The concern shifts…
The uterine lining can thin, making implantation harder
So what’s the key message?
It’s not about pushing the dose higher.
It’s about finding the level where the ovary responds and the uterus remains receptive.
- Multiple pregnancy risk stays low (<10%)
- Most are twins, not higher-order
- Oral, well-tolerated, widely used
In fertility, precision matters more than intensity.
The right dose can make the difference between a cycle that looks active…
and one that actually leads to a pregnancy.
If you’re going through ovulation induction, it’s worth asking:
‘Is this the right dose for me?'”
