What Science Actually Says About Smartphones and Sperm Health – Fertility Plus
Fertility Plus shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Your Phone Is not Killing Your Sperm – The Real Reason Counts Have Dropped 50%!
Sperm counts in men from Western countries have fallen by about half over the last 40 years. While many point fingers at smartphones and Wi-Fi, the truth is more complex.
Recent research shows that everyday phone use has, at most, a small and uncertain effect on sperm health. A Swiss study found that men using their phones more than 20 times a day had lower sperm concentrations, but larger studies show minimal impact on actual pregnancy chances.
So what are the real culprits behind declining sperm counts? Excess weight, smoking, too much alcohol, poor diet, stress, tight clothing, hot tubs, and harmful chemicals in plastics and pollution are the main offenders. These factors can affect testicular function because sperm need to stay cooler than body temperature to thrive.
The good news? Most of these issues can be improved! Simple lifestyle changes like maintaining a healthy weight, quitting smoking, staying active, and avoiding long laptop sessions on your lap can significantly boost fertility for men trying to conceive.
Remember, your phone is just one small piece of the puzzle. Focus on your overall health to make the biggest impact!
