Uk Kim: Turning Fertility Support into Workplace Action
Uk Kim, Head of Fertility and Neuro-immunology at Merck Healthcare, shared a post by Marieta Jiménez, Executive Vice President, Head of Core Markets at Merck Healthcare, on LinkedIn:
“Supporting a family-building journey shouldn’t be a hidden struggle.
Fertility benefit and the accompanying family forward workplace would emphasize creating an open environment where employees feel supported.
Marieta Jiménez shares how Merck is addressing this through the ‘Family-Forward Workplaces’ guide.
It’s a practical look at how we can support family-planning choices with transparency and flexibility in workplace.

Quoting Marieta Jiménez’s post:
“The Merck Fertility Benefit is for people like me. People who need support in their fertility journey,’ says Sarah Fardy. Our colleague shares with us her experience with the Merck Group program that is open to all employees and their partners.
Infertility affects around 1 in 6 people worldwide – yet, it remains a topic too often surrounded by silence. Despite its prevalence, awareness and understanding of fertility remains low, and stigma persists. Many people also face significant barriers when seeking support. We believe that these realities call for greater understanding, flexibility and openness from employers, who play an important role in supporting employees through all stages of building a family.
That’s why we launched the Family-Forward Workplaces guide, which summarizes our experience and provides clear steps, practical examples, and tools to help other companies support their employees in fulfilling their dream of parenthood, or in using fertility preservation options to make a free choice about their family planning later.
I am proud of the support we can provide to our employees on this journey, and so grateful to colleagues like Sarah who share their stories with us and hopefully inspire other companies to take action. Thank you, Sarah!
You can find the link to the full guide here.”
