Christopher Robinson, Associate Professor of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of South Carolina and Executive Chair of the Foundation for the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Marco A. Pelosi, II and Marco A. Pelosi, III, published in AJOG:
“AJOG Expert Review in Cesarean: The Pelosi cesarean delivery technique – OR/Mobius Elastic Abdominal Retractor
A) The retractor has a flexible plastic inner ring, a firm outer ring, and a soft polyurethane sleeve connecting them.
The outer ring is designed with preloaded rotational torque and formed in a Mobius configuration to improve natural inverting roll down.
B) The retractor adapts to wounds of varying depth.
It compresses the skin and peritoneum between the internal and external rings, maintaining the constant thickness of the abdominal incision through surgery, while providing tamponade of small bleeders and incision protection.”
