DIVINE Calculator Makes IVF Dosing Safer Without Reducing Effectiveness – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The DIVINE dose calculator uses easily obtainable patient characteristics to provide clinicians with multiple possible starting doses, each with estimated safety risks and expected live birth implications
This new study from Nienke Schouten, Theodora van Tilborg, Daniela Cianci, Marinus Eijkemans, Marieke Lambers, and Frank J.M. Broekmans investigates the use of this calculator in routine care, and its influence on reducing treatment risk due to ovarian hyperstimulation.
The authors found that implementing the calculator for FSH dose picking in routine IVF/ICSI care resulted in a more safe and equally effective approach in first, fresh IVF/ICSI cycles.
While standard dosing may result in similar live birth rates, individualised dosing can lead to fewer adverse events due to an excessive ovarian response and will be a valuable part of the preventative management of OHSS for predicted high responders.
While more research is needed to fully evaluate the benefits of implementing the DIVINE dose calculator, the results in this paper indicate its promising potential as a tool for optimisation of fertility care.
The paper is published open access, available to read in full from our in-press articles section, now.”
