Mauro Cozzolino: Comparing HA-Based Sperm Selection with Conventional ICSI in PGT-A Cycles
Mauro Cozzolino, Director of IVI RMA Global, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper he co-authored with colleagues published in Reproductive Biology.
”Our recently published prospective sibling-oocyte randomized study compared HA-based sperm selection with conventional ICSI in PGT-A cycles.
Among 258 embryos analyzed, euploidy rates were comparable between HA-ICSI and conventional ICSI (52.1% vs 54.7%), with no significant association between sperm selection method and embryo euploidy.
These findings suggest that, in patients predominantly characterized by altered sperm DNA fragmentation, HA-based sperm selection does not provide a measurable advantage in embryo chromosomal competence. Whether selected populations with higher DNA fragmentation or severe male-factor infertility may benefit remains an important question for future studies.”
