PGT-A Is Associated with a Reduced Live Birth Rate in Routine Practice – RBMO

Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The results of this observational data show that, as used in routine practice, the use of PGT-A is associated with a decrease in the chances of a live birth both in the first treatment cycle and cumulatively compared to standard IVF cycles.

Authors Stephen Roberts, Daniel Brison, Joyce Harper, Fiskani Kondowe, and Andy Vail say that the cumulative loss is unsurprising given that the use of PGT-A reduces the pool of useable embryos through losses due to the biopsy procedure and the number of embryos considered viable. The reduction in LBE can be seen to be largely associated with an increase in the number of cycles where no embryo was available for transfer. Thus, the observational data are in agreement with the randomised trials and the red rating by the HFEA.

Published open access, the full paper is available from the Clinical Assisted Reproductive Technology section of our September issue, now.”
