Asma Khalil: AI-Assisted Ultrasound Is Changing Point-of-Care Imaging
Asma Khalil, Professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine at St. George’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“AI is transforming ultrasound in real time.
In this clip, from the ISUOG Point of Care Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Course, you can see that the ultrasound system automatically labels key anatomical structures during a FAST examination, helping clinicians identify important landmarks quickly and accurately.
You’ll also see the ‘curtain sign’, a dynamic finding observed when a patient takes a deep breath. As the lungs expand and the diaphragm moves, the abdominal organs shift, demonstrating normal respiratory movement.
Ultrasound is no longer just about imaging, it’s becoming smarter, faster, and more intuitive.
Have you used AI-assisted ultrasound yet? What are your thoughts on its role in clinical practice?”
