Francine Freitas Fernandes: Deep Endometriosis With Appendiceal Involvement Identified on Specialized Ultrasound
Francine Freitas Fernandes, Founder and Medical Director of GEUS Clinic (Specialized Ultrasound Group), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Deep endometriosis with appendiceal involvement identified on specialized transvaginal ultrasound with bowel preparation.
Appendiceal involvement by endometriosis is an uncommon finding and may present as a small focal lesion, often located at the appendiceal tip.
Imaging findings alone do not allow definitive differentiation between endometriosis and other entities, including appendiceal neoplasms such as neuroendocrine tumors (carcinoids), making multidisciplinary correlation with surgical and histopathological evaluation essential.
In patients with suspected deep endometriosis and surgical indication, specialized ultrasound represents a key component of disease mapping and therapeutic planning.”
