Maha Alasiri: Early Diagnosis of Interstitial Ectopic Pregnancy
Maha Alasiri, Radiology Specialist at Al Safwa Clinic General Medical Complex, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“An interesting and rare case encountered in our department.
A patient presented with inconsistent and abnormal serial β-hCG levels, raising clinical suspicion. Ultrasound examination performed by my colleagug Abrar Abdalla , revealed an interstitial ectopic pregnancy.
Interstitial ectopic pregnancy is a rare type of ectopic pregnancy in which the gestational sac implants within the interstitial portion of the uterus. Due to its location and rich vascular supply, it carries a higher risk of uterine rupture and severe hemorrhage if not diagnosed early.
This case highlights the importance of correlating laboratory findings with detailed ultrasound evaluation for early diagnosis and timely management.”
