Asma Khalil: Fibroids and Pregnancy, Balancing Reassurance with Individualised Care!
Asma Khalil, Professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine at St. George’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Fibroids are a common concern in pregnancy and a topic that often causes unnecessary anxiety for women.
The reassuring message is that most women with fibroids will go on to have healthy pregnancies. However, every woman’s circumstances are different, which is why individualised assessment and care are so important.
As clinicians, one of our key roles is to provide evidence-based reassurance while recognising when closer monitoring or specialist input may be appropriate.
Clear communication and personalised care can make a significant difference to a woman’s experience throughout pregnancy.
I’d be interested to hear how colleagues approach counselling women with fibroids in pregnancy and the questions they are most commonly asked.”
