Trishdeep Grewal: Hybrid CPAM with Spontaneous Prenatal Regression
Trishdeep Grewal, Consultant Fetal Medicine at Jindal IVF, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A hybrid CPAM with a systemic feeding vessel was identified at 19 weeks, associated with a large thoracic lesion and significant mediastinal shift.
Serial ultrasound examinations demonstrated progressive regression beginning around 27 weeks. By 35 weeks, the lesion was no longer detectable sonographically.
The baby was born at term without respiratory distress. Postnatal chest radiographs at birth and at 3 months showed no clinically significant pulmonary compromise.
This case highlights several important learning points:
- Congenital lung lesions can evolve dramatically during gestation.
- Careful serial surveillance helps guide counseling and avoids unnecessary intervention.
- Postnatal imaging remains important even when the prenatal lesion appears to regress completely.”
