Improve the Chances of Pregnancy Success Through New Blastocyst Timing Insights – RBMO

Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn:

“This review provides a clinical perspective on the relationship between the day of blastocyst formation and pregnancy outcomes; balancing recent technological advances where embryos reach the blastocyst stage at an accelerated rate; by day 4, instead of the more common day 5 or 6 as reported in more historical literature.

From their analysis of the evidence, authors Mollie McGrane-Ewen, Rachael Gregoire, Roger Sturmey, Daniel Brison, and Peter Ruane suggest that it may be time to question the prevailing dogma of timing of human embryo development, to enable the clinical utilisation of embryos which fall outside of the standard developmental guidelines.

The authors say that re-evaluating the paradigm of blastocyst development formation could allow the practice of ART to evolve, with the overall aim to improve the chances of pregnancy success and safety profile of treatment.

Published open access, the paper can be read in full for free from our in-press articles section now.”
