Asma Khalil: Heavy Periods Aren’t Something You Have to ‘Just Live With’

Asma Khalil, Professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine at St. George’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Fibroids Awareness Month is a reminder that heavy periods, pelvic pain, pressure, bloating, frequent urination, and pain that disrupts everyday life should not be dismissed as ‘normal’.

Fibroids are common, non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the womb. Some cause no symptoms. Others can significantly affect quality of life, fertility, pregnancy planning, work, relationships, and wellbeing.

Awareness matters because earlier conversations can lead to earlier diagnosis, better support, and treatment options tailored to the individual.

If symptoms are affecting your daily life, speak to your GP or gynaecologist.”
