Yannick Hurni: How Many Eggs Should a Woman Freeze to Maximize Her Chances of Having a Child in the Future?

Yannick Hurni, Junior mentor of PPCR 2026 at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“How many eggs should a woman freeze to maximize her chances of having a child in the future?

Next Monday, I will have the pleasure of co-hosting the Fertility and Sterility Journal Club Global together with PAUL PIRTEA, where we will discuss an important recent paper published in Fertility and Sterility:

‘The Number of Autologous Vitrified Mature Oocytes Needed to Obtain Three Euploid Blastocysts Increases with Age.’

The study explores how many mature oocytes women need to bank at different ages to achieve three euploid blastocysts, a milestone previously associated with approximately a 93% probability of live birth. The findings have direct implications for fertility preservation counseling, the optimal timing of elective egg freezing, and the number of retrieval cycles patients may need.

We will be honored to be joined by an outstanding panel of experts:
Nikolaos Polyzos
Barbara Lawrenz
Alexandra Izquierdo, MD, PhD
Amalia Namath
Jim Toner

Looking forward to a stimulating discussion on one of the most relevant topics in contemporary reproductive medicine.

July 20
Time: 6:00 PM CEST

Hope many of you can join us!.”
