Mauro Cozzolino: Recipient Age and Reproductive Outcomes in Donor Oocyte Cycles
Mauro Cozzolino, Director of IVI RMA Global, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper he co-authored with colleagues published in the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics:
“A clinically significant decline in live birth occurs in recipients aged > 49 years, suggesting a late-onset uterine aging effect, in 2800 single embryo transfers. These findings may help guide counseling and risk assessment in women of advanced maternal age.
These findings should not discourage women from pursuing donor oocyte treatment, because success rates remain meaningful even at advanced ages. However, counselling needs to be realistic and individualized. Many patients understandably believe that donor eggs eliminate the impact of age, and our data suggest that this is not entirely true.”
