Soma Singh: 4 Embryo Transfers, 1 Miscarriage – And Finally, a Baby in Her Arms
Soma Singh, Associate Director at Max Superspeciality Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:
“Four embryo transfers. One miscarriage. Several disappointments. And finally… a baby in her arms.
Some IVF journeys cannot be measured by statistics alone.
A woman in her 40s came to me after several failed IVF attempts at different centres. Her first attempt with me was also unsuccessful.
We tried again.
The ‘second attempt’ resulted in a pregnancy, but sadly ended in an early miscarriage.
We reassessed, modified the approach and tried again.
The ‘third attempt’was unsuccessful too.
At this point, continuing with the same doctor and the same centre takes plenty of courage, patience and an extraordinary amount of faith.
And then came the fourth embryo transfer.
This time, she conceived.
This time, the pregnancy progressed beautifully, and finally, she gave birth to a ‘healthy baby’
What changed?
Not a miracle overnight. Not a single magical protocol.
It was individualized treatment, continuous reassessment, attention to every detail, perseverance—and the unwavering trust she placed in me throughout the journey.
Her journey is a beautiful reminder that one failed IVF cycle does not define the outcome. Every unsuccessful attempt can teach us something, help us reassess, and allow us to refine the next step.
For me, the most rewarding moment was seeing her finally hold her baby after everything she had been through.
Sometimes the road to parenthood is longer than expected – but with the right approach, good experts, persistence, and trust, the destination can still be beautiful.”
