The Association Between Congenital Uterine Anomalies and Reproductive Outcomes – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Jiayi Ma et al.։
“The results in this new study from Rong Li and team at Peking University Third Hospital suggest that congenital uterine anomalies (CUA) may be associated with a less favourable implantation environment and early gestational adaptation, with the most consistent adverse findings observed in septate uterus.
This is the first matched-cohort study to investigate the association between CUA and reproductive outcomes specifically within a PGT-A setting. Women with CUA exhibited compromised reproductive outcomes, with the most consistent adverse findings observed in the septate uterus subgroup.
In the ASRM-defined arcuate uterus subgroup, the clinical pregnancy rate was significantly lower than in matched controls, whereas the observed lower live birth rate did not reach significance in this population.
These findings suggest that uterine morphology may be independently associated with poorer embryo implantation and pregnancy maintenance, even when embryo ploidy competence is controlled.
