“Scotland is reviewing NHS IVF access.
The Scottish Government has announced a national review of NHS-funded IVF access, looking at whether the current criteria are fair, timely and reflective of different family circumstances.
The review will consider a number of areas, including:
Access to NHS IVF for single women
Eligibility for couples where both partners have children from previous relationships
More consistent access to fertility preservation
Waiting times for people requiring donor eggs or sperm
Whether recent NICE guidance on additional IVF cycles should be reflected in NHS provision in Scotland
The review is expected to make recommendations to Scottish Ministers, with a report due by early summer 2027.
