“Honoured to have delivered my lecture on ՛Male Reproductive Endocrinology՛ at the 11th Annual Women’s Health Study Day on 26 September at Avenues IVF Clinic, London.

It was a privilege to speak among stalwarts in reproductive medicine and to learn from the excellent discussions throughout the day. My sincere thanks to Dr․ Himanshu Borase for the kind invitation and opportunity.

My session focused particularly on some of the less-discussed aspects of male reproductive endocrinology:

ICSI can bypass severe male-factor infertility – but often does not treat the underlying problem.

Serum testosterone and intratesticular testosterone are not the same biological story.

Exogenous testosterone can suppress spermatogenesis and should be avoided in men actively seeking fertility.

DHT and estradiol both have important physiological roles in male reproductive and sexual function.

17-OHP is emerging as a potential surrogate window into intratesticular steroidogenesis.

Libido, erection, ejaculation and orgasm are distinct processes-not manifestations of a single hormonal pathway.

Prolactin and serotonin have complex roles in male sexual function.

Mild thyroid abnormalities should not automatically be blamed for significant male infertility.

Hormonal values always need clinical context.

Perhaps the most important message was simple:

Treat the man, not the number.

A stimulating day of learning, discussion, and exchange of ideas in London.”
