Asma Khalil: Important Reassurance for Women Who Become Pregnant after Taking GLP-1 Medicines
Asma Khalil, Professor and Director of the Fetal Medicine Unit at Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper she co-authored with colleagues published in Med:
”New research offers important reassurance for women who become pregnant after taking GLP-1 medicines such as Wegovy or Mounjaro.
Our study of more than 2.1 million pregnancies found no clearly detectable increase in adverse pregnancy outcomes following GLP-1 exposure around conception.
These findings are reassuring, but they do not mean GLP-1 medicines are proven safe during pregnancy, and current guidance still applies.”
