All the Available Evidence on the Relationship Between Chronic Endometritis and RIF – RBMO
Reproductive BioMedicine Online (RBMO) shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Antonio D’Amato et al.:
“This systematic review by Antonio D’Amato and team across several IVI RMA GLOBAL clinics synthesized all the available evidence on the relationship between chronic endometritis and RIF, with specific attention to:
- prevalence,
- diagnostic approaches,
- therapeutic strategies,
- their impact on clinical pregnancy and live birth rates.
Three main themes are drawn from the analysis and discussed in this review:
- the wide variability in prevalence estimates;
- heterogeneous diagnostic criteria, with CD138 IHC as the de facto reference but the diagnostic criteria applied lacking consistency and standardization; and
- mixed results in terms of reproductive outcomes after treatment compared with control groups.
The authors make clear recommendations for next steps to advance clinical practice:
- establish clear, reproducible diagnostic criteria;
- conduct adequately powered prospective, controlled studies that use uniform CE definitions and verify cure; and
- assess outcomes under controlled conditions (ideally single euploid blastocyst transfers) so that any treatment effect is not confounded by embryo aneuploidy or endometrial protocol variability.”
