Katy Encalade: Grateful to Attend the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys Conference

“I had the opportunity to attend the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys conference earlier this week, and I’m grateful to the legal professionals in our field for continuing to open the doors for agencies to be part of these conversations.

It’s always wonderful to spend time with colleagues and friends, but with how quickly our industry is evolving, staying connected and informed matters more than ever.

We covered a lot:

  • how we can better protect intended parents financially,
  • how to proactively and positively educate the media,
  • understand new legislation and its impact on the families, surrogates, egg donors, and donor-conceived people we serve,
  • and simply work better together.

We also dug into some of the less exciting but incredibly important topics like insurance liens and the tax complexities that can come with this process.

I always leave these conversations reminded that none of us does this work solo.

The more we learn from one another and work together, the better we can serve the people who trust us with such an important part of their lives.”
