Devyanshi Dixit: Your Age Is a Number – But Is Your Egg’s Age?

Devyanshi Dixit, Program Manager at CLS Event and Publication and Conference Manager at the 12th Global Summit on Gynecology, Fertility and Women’s Health, shared on LinkedIn:

“Your age is a number. But is your egg’s age?

A woman is 32.

Her friend is also 32.

Yet their ovarian biology may look very different.

So here’s a fascinating question for reproductive medicine:

Can we measure ‘biological egg age’ more precisely?

For years, fertility assessment has relied heavily on chronological age.

But researchers are now looking beyond the calendar.

What could reveal more about oocyte ageing?

  • Mitochondrial health
  • Chromosomal stability
  • Epigenetic signatures
  • Metabolic signals
  • AI + multi-omics

But there’s an important catch.

We cannot currently put an accurate biological-age number on an individual human egg.

And tests such as AMH and AFC measure aspects of ovarian reserve – not the exact ‘age’ or quality of an individual oocyte.

That distinction matters.

Because the future of fertility assessment may not be about finding one magic number.

It may be about building a much more detailed biological picture of reproductive potential.

Imagine a future where fertility assessment asks:

  1. How old are you?
  2. What does your ovarian biology tell us?
  3. What molecular signals are associated with oocyte ageing?

That could make fertility counselling far more personalised.

The science is evolving – and there is still much to discover.

GFWH 2026 brings together clinicians, researchers, embryologists, fertility specialists, and women’s health experts to explore emerging developments in reproductive medicine.

  • November 23-24, 2026
  • Grand Mercure Bangkok Atrium, Bangkok, Thailand
  • 50+ countries | Hybrid Conference | Up to 15 CME Credits

What do you think? Will ‘biological egg age’ become a meaningful concept in future fertility care?”
