Horace Roman: 15–20 Year Outcomes Show Durable Results After Colorectal Endometriosis Surgery
Horace Roman, Honorary Professor of Endometriosis Surgery at Aarhus University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This is a study concerning patients I managed at the university hospital in Rouen from 2005 to 2010 for rectal endometriosis. Since 2010 I have carried out more than 2000 surgeries for colorectal endometriosis, however these women are for me more than special, because they trusted a young surgeon at that time… I almost remember the preoperative consultations, discussions with their husbands, complications, deliveries after the surgery… Our results show that 15 to 20 years later they are not disappointed. As the menopause is ongoing or close, we can estimate that these remarkable results are definitive.
This study managed by my colleague, Dr. Adrien Crestani brings major information about long-term outcomes of patients requiring complete excision for complex colorectal endometriosis. It should be mentioned that the operative time depended not only of my experience, but also on the technology we are using at that time (no 3D, bipolar and scissors exclusively, small screens…).
Thank you for the attention you could pay to this study published in the prestigious journal Fertility and Sterility.”
