Justin Houman: Does Vasectomy Cause Prostate Cancer?
Justin Houman, Men’s Health Urologist at Tower Urology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“For colleagues counseling men who keep putting off a vasectomy, the prostate cancer question still comes up.
It is a myth men have been told, for whatever reason.
Numerous analyses have looked, and there is no reasonable connection between vasectomy and prostate cancer.
Vasectomy also has no impact on testosterone levels, sexual function or erections.
The procedure itself is 7 to 8 minutes in the office under local anesthesia, and patients resume their lives within a few days.
If this worry is what’s holding a patient back, it is worth addressing directly.
Happy to see these patients in Los Angeles and across the US.”
