Zuzana Holubcova: Unraveling Metabolic Biomarkers in IVF Outcomes
Zuzana Holubcova, Research Group Leader at Masaryk University Brno, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper published in Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology:
“Our latest contribution to Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology offers a data-driven reassessment of metabolomic studies on IVF outcomes:
‘The quest for metabolic biomarkers of IVF outcomes: a meta-analysis and critical review’
This Bayesian meta-analysis synthesizes quantitative, concentration-based data from studies reporting metabolite levels in spent culture media in relation to IVF outcomes. Using this approach, we integrated data suitable for standardized effect size estimation across heterogeneous study designs to identify consistent metabolic signals.
The results reveal substantial methodological heterogeneity that continues to limit biomarker validation. We provide practical recommendations for improving future SCM metabolomics research through standardization and transparent data reporting.
A huge thanks to all co-authors at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, for their insightful collaboration.”
