Sonal Malde: New Research Highlights Thymol’s Benefits for Endometriosis
Sonal Malde, Natural Pharmacist and Wellness Educator at Therapeuticdrop, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Hyewon Jang et al. published in Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology:
“New research highlights the power of thymol – one of the key natural components found in thyme essential oilin – supporting a healthier response to endometriosis.
Researchers tested thymol both in lab-grown endometriosis cells and in a preclinical model of ingesting thymol, and the results were impressive.
What the researchers found:
- Thymol helped reduce the growth of endometriosis lesions.
- It supported healthy cellular cleanup (autophagy) and encouraged better balance in oxidative stress.
- Thymol helped regulate intracellular calcium, an important part of cellular stress and inflammation.
- It also helped rebalance immune activity, including shifts in CD4 and CD8 T cells and changes in cytokines – signals the immune system uses to communicate.
This early research suggests thymol may help create a healthier environment in tissues affected by endometriosis by calming oxidative stress, supporting cellular resilience, and improving immune balance. While more research is needed, this adds to a growing body of evidence showing how natural constituents – like thymol – may offer supportive benefits for complex inflammatory conditions.”
