Sergio Haimovich: Understanding How the Uterus Moves May Be the Missing Key to Unexplained Infertility
Sergio Haimovich, Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa at the AAGL Board of Directors, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Understanding how the uterus moves may be the missing key to unexplained infertility.
In this video review, based on the publication Decoding Uterine Contractility: From Physiology to Pathology, Nicolì, Viganò, de Ziegler, Vitale and colleagues explore how rhythmic uterine contractions — we explain about the driven by specialized pacemaker cells, playing a central role in sperm transport, embryo positioning and implantation.
The paper shows how abnormal uterine waves are increasingly linked to conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis and chronic endometritis, and how emerging tools like cine-MRI and electromyometrial imaging are allowing us to see these dysfunctions with unprecedented precision.
This work challenges us to rethink infertility not only as a hormonal or structural problem, but also as a mechanical and functional disorder of the uterus itself.
Watch the video to understand why uterine contractility is becoming one of the most exciting frontiers in reproductive medicine.”
