New Insights into Comorbidities in Adenomyosis Patients – RBMO

Reproductive BioMedicine Online shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Angela Gallone et al. published in RBMO:

“Selected by our Chief-Editors as their Editor’s Choice article from our December issue, this study explores the possible presence of comorbidities in a group of patients with only adenomyosis.

The authors found that comorbidity profiles of endometriosis and adenomyosis seem to be significantly different, with endometriosis being a syndrome, whereas isolated adenomyosis is a more localized organ-related disease. However, the authors also argue the importance of a multidisciplinary approach for patients with only adenomyosis, given the presence of co-occurring conditions.

This study paves the way for additional research into the clinical and genetic background of systemic comorbidities in patients with endometriosis and/or adenomyosis to personalize therapeutic approaches.
