Age, Ethnicity and What Really Matters About AMH Levels – Fertility Plus
Fertility Plus shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Why Your ‘Low’ AMH Might Not Mean What You Think – The Ethnicity Factor!
Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) levels vary by ethnicity. A Yale study found Black and Hispanic women often have AMH levels up to 25% lower than Caucasian women of the same age, despite similar fertility prospects. Chinese women may have higher AMH levels early on but see a quicker decline.
AMH rises from birth, peaks in late teens, stabilizes until about age 25, and declines after 34. Lifestyle factors like smoking and low vitamin D can impact AMH differently across populations.
A low AMH result should be viewed with age, ethnicity, ultrasound findings, and overall health in mind. Focus on what the results mean for you rather than stressing over a single number.
