Aparna Sridhar: New Expanding Contraceptive Options Guideline by WHO
Aparna Sridhar, Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, shared on LinkedIn:
“I am honored to have served as a member of the Guideline Development Group for the World Health Organization’s new Expanding Contraceptive Options (ECO) Guideline.
This important publication provides evidence-based recommendations on contraceptive methods and practices not previously addressed – or addressed differently – in existing WHO guidance.
By evaluating additional methods and practices, the guideline can help ministries of health, policymakers, and program leaders expand the contraceptive method mix and offer people more choices that reflect their needs and preferences.
I am deeply grateful to WHO HRP for including me in this important work. Seeing my name in the final publication is truly a humbling moment.
It was a privilege to contribute alongside experts committed to strengthening access to safe, effective, and acceptable contraception worldwide.
I look forward to continuing this work and helping translate evidence into meaningful improvements in contraceptive access, informed choice, and reproductive autonomy.
