Asma Khalil: Every Patient Deserves to Feel Heard, Respected and Understood!
Asma Khalil, Professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine at St. George’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“EVERY PATIENT DESERVES TO FEEL HEARD, RESPECTED AND UNDERSTOOD.
Providing excellent healthcare is about far more than clinical knowledge. It is about listening without judgement, recognising cultural differences, and treating every patient as an individual.
As Clinicians we must avoid stereotypes, never dismiss concerns, and ensure compassion sits alongside professionalism in every consultation.
Every pregnant woman brings her own experiences, beliefs and challenges. Understanding where she is coming from helps us provide safer, more personalised and more equitable care.
These conversations matter if we want to reduce inequalities in maternity care and improve outcomes for all women.
