Aumatma Simmons: When Standard Fertility Testing Doesn’t Explain the Problem…
Aumatma Simmons, Co-Founder and Chief Fertility Officer at Madre Fertility, shared on LinkedIn:
“When Standard Fertility Testing Doesn’t Explain the Problem.
‘Unexplained infertility’ doesn’t necessarily mean there are no contributing factors. It can mean the standard evaluation hasn’t identified them yet.
Depending on the individual, a broader assessment may consider:
- Genetic and metabolic factors
- Autoimmune and inflammatory conditions
- Nutrition and lifestyle
- Environmental exposures
- Gut and reproductive microbiome health
Not every patient needs every test. The goal is to use clinical history and presentation to determine where further evaluation may be appropriate.
Key Insight:
When standard testing is inconclusive, looking beyond the basic fertility workup can provide additional context and help guide more individualized care.
What additional factors do you consider when a patient’s standard fertility evaluation comes back ‘normal’?”
