Aumatma Simmons։ Night Sweats Are an Often-Overlooked Symptom in Fertility Conversations
Aumatma Simmons, Co-Founder and Chief Fertility Officer at Madre Fertility, shared on LinkedIn:
“An often-overlooked symptom in fertility conversations: night sweats.
They’re frequently attributed to room temperature or bedding, but the research points to something more systemic.
Research in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine found that women experiencing regular night sweats had significantly higher inflammatory markers and cortisol dysregulation compared to controls.
A 2021 study in Metabolism found nocturnal hypoglycemia triggered compensatory hormone responses that disrupted follicular development and ovulation timing.
For patients navigating unexplained fertility challenges, night sweats can be a useful clue pointing toward blood sugar regulation, cortisol patterns, and underlying inflammation, areas that don’t always get addressed in a standard fertility workup.
Worth asking about in intake, even when it seems unrelated on the surface.”
