Aysha O’Connor: Natural Conception Should Be Something You Support from the Beginning
Aysha O’Connor, Fertility Coach at Fertility With Aysha, shared on LinkedIn:
”Natural conception shouldn’t be what you try after everything else has failed.
It should be something you support from the beginning by asking:
What may be preventing it?
That’s my honest opinion after years of working with women who come to me after multiple rounds of IVF, injections, procedures, and protocols they were never entirely sure they needed.
Many were never allowed to work on their reproductive health before moving into intervention.
- No one helped them explore egg and sperm health.
- No one looked at the health of the womb environment.
- No one connected their cycle symptoms, hormonal health and wider health history to what they were experiencing with fertility.
They were simply told:
‘IVF is the next step.’
I’m not against fertility treatment. Assisted reproduction has a genuine and important place, and for some women, it will absolutely be the right choice.
But I believe we often miss an important step before intervention.
A woman comes to me after unsuccessful IVF and unexplained infertility, carrying a quiet fear that her body has somehow failed her.
So I ask: Who helped you understand and support your reproductive health before another round?
Often, the answer is: No one.
She was offered another protocol.
But perhaps the question before another round shouldn’t simply be: ‘What do we try next?’
Perhaps it should be: ‘Why hasn’t this worked, and what needs to be supported before we try again?’
That question opens a different conversation.
One that looks at reproductive health alongside nutrition, hormonal health, gut health, thyroid function, stress, lifestyle, and the emotional toll of years of trying.
Body. Mind. Spirit.
This isn’t about choosing ‘natural’ over medical fertility treatment.
It’s about supporting the person-not just treating the fertility diagnosis.
When women are given the right support, we can sometimes see meaningful changes in cycle regularity, ovulation, symptoms, energy, and overall wellbeing.
And some women do go on to conceive naturally.
Not because of a miracle.
But because their health was finally given the attention it deserved.
Natural fertility support shouldn’t be treated as a last resort.
It can be part of the foundation-whether your goal is natural conception or preparing your body for assisted conception.
If you’ve been through fertility treatment and still don’t understand why it hasn’t worked, or you want to explore what could be supported differently before you begin, send me a message.
Let’s look at your fertility journey as a whole.”
