Black Maternal Health Week Raising Awareness and Driving Change – Mother Lab
Mother Lab shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Black Maternal Health Week (April 11–17) is a time to recognize the ongoing maternal health crisis affecting Black mothers in the United States and to uplift the work of communities, advocates, and health workers fighting for change. Black women in the U.S. are still significantly more likely to experience pregnancy-related complications and maternal death than white women. These inequities are driven by structural racism, gaps in care, and barriers within our health systems. This week is about centering Black voices, investing in community-based solutions, and supporting models of care that prioritize dignity, equity, and justice – like doulas, midwifery care, and community health programs. Healthy mothers mean healthy families and healthy communities. Black maternal health is a public health, human rights, and equity issue.”
