Celebrating Innovation in Gynecologic Care – Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, U of T
Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, U of T shared a post on LinkedIn:
“CanSAGE? Can do!
Two ob-gyn faculty members have won national awards from the Canadian Society for the Advancement of Gynecologic Excellence (CanSAGE) for their achievements in minimally invasive gynaecology, a rapidly advancing field that uses an unobtrusive approach to treating gynaecological conditions.
Dr. Carmen McCaffrey, an assistant professor, won the Early Achievement in Minimally Invasive Gynaecology award.
Dr. Ally Murji, a professor and MIGS division head, won the Excellence in Gynecologic Care award.
Offering his congratulations, Dr. Murji says, ‘Dr. McCaffrey’s embrace of technological solutions and determination to treat the whole patient, with a focus on mental health, is fully deserving of this award.’
Dr. McCaffrey started an endometriosis program at St. Michael’s Hospital, funded in part by a win on Angel’s Den, a medical research competition, for an app currently in the development phase.
‘MyEndo App is a platform that will provide patients comprehensive, evidence-based care for endometriosis and pelvic pain, including pelvic floor physiotherapy, mindfulness therapy, nutrition counselling, exercise and yoga programs and more – all in the comfort of their home, eliminating cost and location barriers,’ says Dr. McCaffrey.
Dr. Murji was recognized for originating internationally adopted surgical techniques, his research track record, and his mentorship.
