Devyanshi Dixit: Is Your Menstrual Cycle Giving You Early Health Warnings?
Devyanshi Dixit, Program Manager at CLS Event and Publication and Conference Manager at the 12th Global Summit on Gynecology, Fertility and Women’s Health, shared on LinkedIn:
”Is Your Menstrual Cycle Giving You Early Health Warnings?
Your period is more than a date on the calendar.
Sometimes, changes in your cycle can be the first visible clue that something else in the body has changed.
Look Beyond ‘Irregular’
A cycle that suddenly becomes:
- Much shorter or longer
- Heavier than usual
- Unusually painful
What Could Be Behind The Change?
Menstrual patterns can be affected by many factors, including:
- PCOS – irregular or infrequent ovulation
- Thyroid disorders – changes in cycle timing and bleeding
- Perimenopause – changing cycle length and flow
- Fibroids or adenomyosis – heavy bleeding and pain
- Stress, under-fueling or intense exercise – disrupted cycles
- Pregnancy, medications and other conditions – changes in bleeding patterns
When Should You Pay Attention?
- Very heavy bleeding.
- Repeatedly missed periods.
- Bleeding after sex.
- Bleeding between periods.
- New or worsening severe pain.
- A sudden, persistent change in your cycle.
These changes don’t tell you the diagnosis by themselves-but they can be a reason to seek medical evaluation.
Your ‘Normal’ Is Your Baseline.
Instead of asking only:
‘Is this normal?’
also ask:
‘Is this normal for me?’
Because sometimes, the body whispers before it shouts.
