What happens behind the scenes of an IVF laboratory?
A typical day as an Embryologist is a combination of science, precision, responsibility and continuous learning.
Starting the day
- Checking laboratory conditions and equipment
- Monitoring temperature, humidity, and gas parameters
- Reviewing the day’s IVF/ICSI and embryo work schedule
During the laboratory work
- Oocyte identification and assessment
- Sperm preparation and assessment
- ICSI procedures
- Fertilization assessment
- Embryo culture and daily embryo assessment
- Embryo and sperm cryopreservation
Beyond the microscope
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records
- Following strict quality-control procedures
- Ensuring proper identification and traceability
- Maintaining a controlled and consistent laboratory environment
Every step requires attention to detail and consistency, because even the smallest laboratory procedures are part of someone’s journey toward parenthood.
