Allen Morgan: PRP in Fertility Treatment, Emerging Evidence and Future Directions
Allen Morgan shared a post on LinkedIn:
“PRP and Fertility
One of the most exciting developments in reproductive medicine today is the growing interest in Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy as a potential adjunct in fertility treatment.
PRP is created from a patient’s own blood and contains a concentrated source of platelets, growth factors, and signaling molecules involved in tissue repair and regeneration. While PRP has been used for years in orthopedics, sports medicine, and aesthetics, researchers are now exploring its role in reproductive medicine.
Areas of ongoing investigation include:
- Improving endometrial thickness in patients with persistently thin uterine lining
- Supporting implantation in patients with recurrent implantation failure
- Ovarian PRP for women with diminished ovarian reserve or age-related ovarian decline
- Enhancing the uterine environment prior to embryo transfer
Although more research is still needed, early studies have shown promising results in selected patient populations, generating significant interest among fertility specialists worldwide.
As physicians, our responsibility is to balance innovation with evidence-based medicine. New therapies should be approached with both enthusiasm and scientific rigor, ensuring that patients receive realistic expectations and thoughtful guidance.
The future of fertility treatment will likely involve a combination of advanced embryology, genetics, personalized medicine, and regenerative therapies such as PRP.
It is an exciting time to be practicing reproductive medicine.”
