Jordan Abdi: Looking Forward to Co-Hosting the “Rules of Reproduction”
Jordan Abdi, Co-founder and CEO at U-Ploid Biotechnologies, shared on LinkedIn by Leo Tyson, Co-Founder of Nexus, adding:
“Really looking forward to co-hosting this!
We’ll be at Barclays Moorgate on 3 November, alongside a brilliant group of fertility founders.
Where and how to run early reproductive health studies is a question of growing importance for emerging fertility companies, and the UK should be the obvious place to do this work.
It has the history, the dedicated fertility regulator, and some of the world’s leading embryologists and clinicians.
But the HFE Act dates from 1990, and the framework hasn’t kept pace with the kinds of products companies are now trying to bring to patients.
The evening is a short panel followed by small group workshops, and should be a very engaging session.”
Quoting Leo Tyson’s post:
“Who gets to build the future of fertility? Tuesday 3rd November.
Britain produced the first IVF birth in 1978 and is still the only country with a dedicated fertility regulator.
That was an advantage and in some respects remains one. But the HFE Act is 35 years old, the HFEA has published its own law reform recommendations, and founders are increasingly running their first studies elsewhere.
Join us for an interactive workshop-led event for founders, investors, researchers, clinicians and policy makers to discuss and explore the policy, regulation and operational realities of building in fertility and reproduction, and who gets to shape that future.
