“Lymphocyte Immunization Therapy (LIT): Where Reproductive Immunology Meets Evidence.

Pregnancy requires a remarkably complex interaction between the maternal immune system and the genetically distinct embryo.

Lymphocyte Immunization Therapy (LIT) was developed from the hypothesis that exposing a woman to paternal or donor lymphocytes could induce immune tolerance toward paternal antigens and support pregnancy maintenance.

The concept is fascinating, but the clinical evidence remains controversial.

While some studies and meta – analyses have reported improved live – birth outcomes, major evidence- based guidelines have not established a consistent clinical benefit, and concerns regarding safety and study heterogeneity remain.

The current question is therefore not simply:

‘Can we modify maternal immunity?’

but rather:

‘Can we identify which immune mechanisms actually contribute to pregnancy loss- and safely target them?’

That distinction is central to the future of reproductive immunology and personalised fertility care.
Biological plausibility opens the door.

Robust clinical evidence determines whether we should walk through it.”
