Katy Encalade: Why Early Education Matters in Egg Donation and Surrogacy
Katy Encalade, President and CEO of Egg Donor and Surrogate Solutions, shared on LinkedIn:
“Some of the biggest decisions in family building happen before you even know what your family will look like.
In this Mini Moment, I reflect on Monroe’s experience deciding whether both he and his partner should create embryos as they began their journey through egg donation and surrogacy. His story highlights something I believe we need to be talking about much earlier in the process.
What may initially feel like a financial decision can have implications for years to come, especially when considering future siblings and biological connections.
Education at the very beginning of the journey is so important. Families deserve the opportunity to understand their options, ask questions, and think beyond their immediate next steps before making decisions that may shape their future.
There isn’t one right path for every family. But I believe its our responsibility as professionals to make sure families have the information and guidance they need to make informed decisions. I’m grateful to Monroe for sharing his experience and helping bring attention to these important conversations.

Our President and CEO, Katy Encalade, reflects on Monroe’s experience and why we believe education should begin long before families are asked to make these important decisions.
