“Fertility Patient Journey Series Part 2 of 3
During my fertility journeys, I experienced three different clinics – and three different ways of managing treatment.
One thing they had in common?
A medication calendar.
And while those calendars gave me the information I needed – medication names, doses, dates, and timing – I remember how easy it was to second-guess myself.
- Did I read that correctly?
- Was I supposed to start this medication tonight or tomorrow?
- Why am I taking this one again?
- Did something change after my labs?
And here’s the thing:
I work in healthcare.
If I found myself double-checking instructions and trying to connect all the pieces, I started wondering what this experience must feel like for someone encountering fertility treatment and medical terminology for the very first time.
That got me thinking…
What if the traditional fertility medication calendar were more than a schedule?
Imagine one personalized digital tool where a patient could see:
- What medication they’re taking and why
- The exact dose and timing
- Labs and monitoring appointments
- What the care team is looking for at each stage
- Real-time medication or treatment changes
- Upcoming milestones and next steps
- Simple reminders when something needs their attention
Not more information.
More clarity.
Because fertility treatment already asks patients to carry a lot emotionally. They shouldn’t also have to carry the responsibility of piecing together their care plan.
Technology doesn’t need to replace the conversations between patients and their care teams.
It can help those conversations follow the patient home.
Maybe the opportunity isn’t to completely reinvent fertility care.
Maybe it’s to take something patients already use – and make it work better for them.
