“It was a great pleasure to take part in the International UroAndrology Congress in Belgrade and to contribute to the session on reproductive medicine with my lecture:
‘Infertility: A Clinical Manifestation of Metabolic Disease and a Predictor of Women’s Future Health.’
We increasingly recognise that reproductive and metabolic health cannot be viewed separately.
Conditions associated with infertility may reveal underlying metabolic and endocrine disturbances long before their broader health consequences become clinically apparent.
It was particularly valuable to see female and male reproductive health brought together within the same multidisciplinary conversation.
Infertility care should extend beyond the question of achieving successful pregnancy, as it offers an important opportunity to identify women who may benefit from earlier metabolic assessment, prevention, and long-term follow-up.
