Lowell Ku։ October Is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month
Lowell Ku, Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility, and Reproductive Surgeon at Dallas IVF, shared on LinkedIn:
“Some conversations in fertility medicine never get easy. Pregnancy loss is one of them.
October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to remember babies lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss, while also recognizing the parents and families whose lives were forever changed by them.
As a fertility physician, I know how quickly joy and anticipation can turn into grief. I also know how desperately patients may search for an explanation, replaying everything they did and wondering what happens next.
Sometimes medicine can give us answers. Sometimes, painfully, it cannot.
What I hope every patient hears is that you deserve space to grieve, permission to ask questions, and compassionate care as you decide what comes next. There is no single ՛right՛ way to navigate loss or to feel about trying again.
This month, I’m remembering the babies who were here for far too short a time and the families who continue to carry their love with them.
You are seen. Your grief matters. And your baby is remembered.”
