Lucy Froese։ You’re Not Delaying IVF Because You Don’t Want a Baby Badly Enough…
Lucy Froese, Fertility and IVF Coach, shared on LinkedIn:
“You’re not delaying IVF because you don’t want a baby badly enough.
You’re delaying it because you’re terrified it won’t work, and you don’t know how you’ll cope if it doesn’t.
I know, because that was me.
We had been trying to get pregnant for three years.
Every month gave me another chance to tell myself:
‘Maybe next month.’
As long as we continued trying naturally, I could hold on to the hope that it would eventually happen without intervention.
But walking into a fertility clinic meant facing the possibility that it might not.
It wasn’t the injections or appointments that frightened me most.
It was putting my body, my relationship and so much hope into IVF, and still potentially not becoming a mum.
It felt like a roll of the dice with the thing I wanted most in the world.
I kept thinking:
‘What if I go through all of this and it doesn’t work?’
‘How will I cope?’
Then someone recommended a fertility coach.
Having that support gave me somewhere to process the fear, grief and complete lack of certainty that came with IVF.
It didn’t give me a guarantee.
It helped me feel emotionally able to take the next step, knowing I couldn’t control the outcome.
I did go ahead with IVF.
Our first cycle worked, and that baby is now 11.
But when I started treatment, I didn’t know that would be our outcome.
That experience is one of the reasons I now support women who are still trying naturally, preparing for IVF, deciding whether to transfer another embryo, or finding the courage to try again after loss.
Because sometimes the hardest part isn’t knowing what your options are.
It’s feeling calm and clear enough to decide what is right for you, and trusting that you have the support to cope with whatever happens next.
If fear of it not working is keeping you stuck, book a free consultation through the link in my profile.
We’ll talk through where you are, what is holding you back, and the support that could help you move forward feeling calmer, clearer, and more in control.”
