Namita Kotia: When an IVF Cycle Takes an Unexpected Turn…
Namita Kotia, Founder and Director, Reproductive Medicine and IVF at Aastha Fertility Care, shared on LinkedIn:
”When an IVF cycle takes an unexpected turn: Fresh transfer to Freeze-All on Day 6 of ovulation induction
A patient undergoing PESA/ICSI with an antagonist stimulation protocol had a normal baseline assessment and an unremarkable Day 3 scan. However, on Day 6 of ovarian stimulation, an endometrial polyp was detected on ultrasound.
This case highlights some important aspects of IVF practice:
- The importance of serial ultrasound monitoring during ovarian stimulation.
- The need to reassess the endometrial cavity even when baseline findings are normal.
- The importance of individualising embryo transfer decisions according to evolving clinical findings.
In reproductive medicine, flexibility is as important as planning. Sometimes, changing the plan is the most appropriate clinical decision.”
